Altinkum facelift

They've been working hard over the winter to
Make the sea-front attractive

Although this lamp-post would make you feel you'd had one too many
even if you'd only been drinking orange juice

End of May and the beaches are filling up

And all the roads at 2nd Beach and Tuntas beach
have been re-layed using paving blocks

Tortoise

Today we had another visitor

This little fellow appeared on the patio.
Wild tortoise seem to be on the move recently as we've seen several,
but this was the smallest we've seen.

House Guest

This week we had a little visitor,
as two of our friends went off to England
to attend a wedding.
His name is Barney and he's a 14 year old Westie.
His manners were impeccable and was the perfect house guest.

He has gone home now, but he kept us amused for a while.

Fresh fish supper in Gümüşlük

While we were in Gümüşlük we had a lovely fish supper by the water's edge
with some delightful meses to start
(octopus, mixed sea-food "fish-cake", yoghurt & mint etc.)

And finished it off with a complimentary mixed fruit chocolate fondue

Gümüşlük.

We took a trip down towards Bodrum and ended up in a beautiful little fishing village called Gümüşlük.

There is also the ancient city of Myndos buried under the sea.
A few artifacts can still be seen on the islands
such as mosaics and buliding remains.

The little restaurants along the water's edge serve up the fish caught locally

It was so peaceful!!!

Spring Cleaning

Just to prove that life here isn't one long holiday,
here I am spring cleaning the carpets

And while I was doing that, Sue was working hard
in the house, you know, curtains, floors, windows ....
a million and one things to do

Şirince

We took a trip with a couple of friends to a pretty little village
called Şirince which is famous in Turkey for wine.

It's about 8Km from Selçuk and
a thousand feet up in the mountains
amongst the vineyards and olive groves

Some of the buildings are stunning,

As you can see

There were many opportunities to sample the local produce
And the locals didn't miss any chance to sell you something
We indulged ourselves by purchasing
a few bottles of wine and some olive oil.
