A little break

Several of you have commented that we haven't updated the blog recently.
The reason is simple ..... we've been in Thailand for the last month, taking a break.

To see more of our travels follow this link to our picture gallery.

Oh, and these were Sue's present to me on my birthday ...

Shame they are fellas!!!!! They really are you know!!

Well here's a picture of how the old holiday complex next to Gaye1 is being reduced to rubble

Some is still awaiting destruction, Once finished a new 5 star holiday village will rise from the ashes.
The owner of local hotels The Triton and The Orion has a 49 Year lease on the land and has decided this is the future.
We will keep an eye.

We hired a car so that we could get a few things done, and having done them we decided to visit Kusadasi.
This is Koctas, which is owned by B & Q so we can get many of our DIY needs here, and much of the stock is the same as B & Q in UK.

And below is Kipa, which is another store owned by a British company, this time Tesco's, although, unlike Koctas, they don't stock many Tesco brands here.

The view from the car window of the setting sun over the water logged fields on the way home was really pretty.

New Year ... New Blog

Welcome to our 2008 blog. This year we hope to concentrate more on pictures and less on diary type pages. We love to hear your comments on our efforts and always reply personally to individual emails we receive. We have added an email address in the profile link in the side panel now so you can click on that to write to us.

A Day Around Town

Ok, so start as we mean to go on (maybe).

For those who read this and are not familiar with the area, these views will all be new to you .... for those who are familiar with the place, you may still find them interesting.

We started our trip to town by enjoying a coffee in the sunshine.

You have heard us mention collecting the post from the postbox at the PTT (post-office).
We did that today.

We discovered that a new bank has now arrived.
We now have nine banks ... three years ago it was only 3, so Didim must be really on the up.

This is one of our favourite eating establishments .... Café More. It's family run and has a lovely atmosphere. There's always a good mix of Turkish and English and the welcome is warm without being overpowering.

And finally, shopfitters do really well here ... shops come and go in the twinkling of an eye.
This one we think will be a clothes shop.
