Monastir

We went to Monastir Beach today complete with picnic

These truly are the colours of the sand, sea and sky here

With a cooling breeze, this was the best place to spend the day.

Sunset in Akbük

We seem to be having a spate of sunsets. This time we saw the sun go down in Akbük when we were visiting Yo and Nigel.

The camera never quite picks up the range of colours ... best if you come and see for yourselves.

TeknoSA

Exciting news (from my point of view) as TechnoSA have arrived. For those who don't know this is a the Turkish equivalent of Dixons or Comet.

This second picture shows another new innovation (bottom right of picture) ... recycling bins, which have sprung up all over the area

Sunset in Mavisehir

After touring the Mavisehir evening market we sat in a café by the water's edge and watched the sun go down

The New Mosque

Just thought you might like to see the progress in the construction of our new mosque

It looks very grand doesn't it?

Oh ye of little faith

As you may remember they came and cut the edges of the roads a couple of weeks ago and we were promised they would come with a tractor to finish the park

Well, much to our surprise they did ... this afternoon

Kevin and Annette's joint 50th Birthday Party

They decided upon a Western theme, so we all had to dress up accordingly. Walking to the party turned some heads and caused a few laughs we can tell you!

The house was really well decorated for the occasion

Although our hosts outshone the rest of us by resorting to Ebay for their costumes.

Kevin and Annette's daughter Nicola and her husband Michael flew in from the Lebanon to join in the fun
And son Jason and his partner Natalie came from the UK

And we partied into the night

Street Party

Better late than never, Sokak 222 decided to celebrate their new road (built 2 years ago) with a street party.

All the neighbourhood and some guests were invited

Ann (below) was the organiser, and she also kept the children amused, and the adults entertained with her antics.

And we must also mention the two master chefs, Mustapha and Bariş, (below), who kept us supplied with vast quantities of meat from the barbeque

Unusual event

Here's an unusual event (ie. it's never happened before) ... the Belediye (Council) sent some workers to clear the sides of the roads around the village. They told us (via sign language) that a tractor will be coming to cut down the rest ... should we hold our breath?
