Visitors from the UK

You may have wondered why there haven't been any additions to the blog recently. We've had visitors, our daughter Christie, Richard and 3 grand-daughters Hayley, Alex and Bethany.

We took them to the Aquapark on one of our days out ... they loved it!!

And our friend Geoff kindly took them out on his boat for a taste of watersports

They tried the Ringoes, and kneel-boarding amongst other things

Even us poor old Grand-parents had a go.

Security

With crime on the increase around Didim and Yeşilkent, security huts have been springing up on Yeşilkent Sahil Sitesi.

We are told that some entrances are to be blocked and others will have gates and gatekeepers

Watch this space!!

Developments at Ladybird Beach

Now those of you who know the beach in front of the Blue Restaurant (known as Ladybird Beach) will know that the old men sit under the trees playing dominoes there. Well now we have a Mini Bufé there, and the area beneath the trees is being brick-weaved.

Not the best time to choose to do this ... in the height of the summer season, when everybody is trying to enjoy the sun and sand. The visitors are not too happy to be covered in clouds of grey dust as the lorries deliver their loads.

But hey this IS Turkey and it will look good when it's done, and it will be much more comfortable to sit there and have a beer or coffee in the shade of the olive trees.

Friendliness

We were enjoying a natter under an olive tree on Gaye 2 with our friends Mandy and Lawrence this afternoon when we were suddenly joined by some ladies. Now the Turks are by nature a very friendly nation, but occasionally

they take friendliness to extremes .... note the big wide empty spaces they could have used

These truly are the colours of the sand, sea and sky here

With a cooling breeze, this was the best place to spend the day.

Sunset in Akbük

We seem to be having a spate of sunsets. This time we saw the sun go down in Akbük when we were visiting Yo and Nigel.

The camera never quite picks up the range of colours ... best if you come and see for yourselves.

TeknoSA

Exciting news (from my point of view) as TechnoSA have arrived. For those who don't know this is a the Turkish equivalent of Dixons or Comet.

This second picture shows another new innovation (bottom right of picture) ... recycling bins, which have sprung up all over the area
